Everything I Need to Know About My Need for God, I Learned From My Baby

Everything I Need to Know About My Need for God, I Learned from My Baby…a mini blog
This is my youngest son, and I don’t mean to brag, but he thinks I’m pretty amazing. (Bless his baby heart…)
He’s recently learned to crawl, and he loves to go off on his own and explore. But just for a moment. Because if he senses that I’ve gone too far away from him, back his little crawling legs bring him just so he can check in and catch a glimpse of my eyes. Then he’s off again to explore and play.

Sometimes if I run to the laundry room and he doesn’t see how close by I am, he begins to cry. His sense of security and peace is immediately lost. Tears replace the smiles. But as soon as I walk back in, he begins to giggle. “There you are.” His joy returns.

Then sometimes for no reason at all when everything seems to be going well, he may crawl over and seek me out even when so many fun little toys are around him.

He did it today when I snapped this pic; he decided he needed more than a glance of my face, he wanted to stand at my feet. And ask for me to pick him up. So I did. And I loved it.

I can never get enough of his sweetness. And all is well as he just hangs out with his mom. Doing nothing special. Just being together.

I can’t help but think how much our need for God is similar to my baby’s need for time with me. But unlike him, we sometimes lose sight of this need. And we run dry.

Do you ever just feel empty? Worn down? In need of something more? Everything around you is relatively good. But for some reason, you just don’t feel your best.

You try eating better. Yoga. Reading books. Going out to wine night. Yet somehow when you wake up, you still don’t feel refreshed. Your burden is still there.

Well today, I encourage you to take a tip from my son and go take a sit with your maker Jesus. ❀ Look in his eyes. Talk to his face. Ask for what you need. Just sit with him and be. There’s nothing tricky about it. You need him like a baby needs their parent. End of story.

So today, if you are feeling drained or if all the amazing toys are around you but nothing feels fun, humble yourself. Ask for a pick me up. Tell him you’re feeling weak.

Seek him. Seek him. Seek him. I promise he will never turn you away. In fact, he’ll sit with you as long as it takes. All else will wait. πŸ’™ He thinks you’re just the sweetest thing.

Be still and know that I am God.
